As COSI On Wheels enters into the summer travel season, elementary schools take the summer off and COSI hits the road visiting many of the over 100 fairs, festivals, and special events in our region every summer.  Columbus hosts a fair number of large community festivals and I had the opportunity to take our Science Spot program to one such event.

Columbus, Ohio, hosts one of the largest gay pride festivals in the country, with over 150,000 people from all over the US attending. COSI displayed nearly 200 square feet of science goodness at this event.  Seeing over 2,000 people in the booth sent an awesome message to the city and the Midwest that COSI is a big supporter of many diverse communities – including the GLBT community.

Having the opportunity to educate and entertain thousands of families and friends over a 25-hour period was exhausting but rewarding.

COSI On Wheels will be seen at the following Downtown Columbus festivals in the coming weeks and month:

Jazz and Ribs Festival – July 23-25, 2010 – Northbank Park
11am – 10pm Friday / Saturday & 11am – 8pm Sunday

Festival Latino – August 14 and 15, 2010 – Genoa Park
11am – 8pm both days

Come support these energetic and exciting festivals and stop by the COSI booth – who knows, you may make an appearance in our blog!
